Welcome to the LWV of Saginaw County
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, has fought since 1920 to improve our systems of government and impact public policies through citizen education and advocacy. The League's enduring vitality and resonance comes from its unique decentralized structure. The League of Women Voters is strictly nonpartisan; it neither supports nor opposes candidates for office at any level of government. At the same time, the League is wholeheartedly political and works to influence policy through advocacy. It is the original grassroots citizen network, directed by the consensus of its members nationwide.

League Urges Senate to Pass Climate and Energy Legislation

President Mary G. Wilson sent a letter to the Senate urging them to pass comprehensive legislation on energy and the environment. Opponents of this important legislation have introduced language that attacks the Clean Air Act and would block EPA from taking action against climate change. If it passes, this will put public health at risk and jeopardize long-overdue action to cut emissions from the biggest polluters. Take action now to tell your Senators to protect the Clean Air Act and to vote against Senator Murkowski's resolution of disapproval (S.J. Res 26) or any similar legislation that blocks EPA action, including S. 3072 introduced by Senator Jay Rockefeller (D WV). The Murkowski resolution is scheduled for a vote on June 10.
